Grand Hotel Saigon

The Grand Hotel Saigon boasts a rich history dating back to 1930, making it one of the oldest hotels in Ho Chi Minh City. Nestled along the scenic Saigon River and within walking distance of bustling commercial and entertainment areas, the hotel embodies a unique blend of its French colonial heritage and modern luxury.

Originally established in 1930, the Grand Hotel Saigon began as a small beverage shop under the leadership of Mr. Henry Edouard Charigny de Lachevrotière. This shop, located at the corner of Dong Khoi Street ( damaligen Catinat) and Ngo Duc Ke Street ( damaligen Vannier), catered to local residents and visitors seeking refreshments.

Throughout the decades, the establishment underwent several transformations. In 1932, Patrice Luciani took over the license to operate the beverage shop. By 1937, it had evolved into the Saigon Palace, with Luciani assuming the role of hotel manager. In 1939, Antoine Giogetti took the helm as Hotel Director.

Following World War II, the establishment retained the name Hotel Saigon Palace until the late 1950s when it adopted the Vietnamese name "SÀI GÒN ?AI LU QUÁN." The telephone number also underwent changes throughout this period.

In 1978, the F&B and Hotels Office assumed management of the property, officially naming it Palace Hotel. This name remained until 1989 when the Restaurants and Hotels Combination made the decision to establish Dong Khoi Hotel. This new entity incorporated the hotel at 16 Ngo Duc Ke Street and the restaurant at 24 Dong Khoi Street.

A significant chapter in the hotel's history unfolded between 1995 and 1998. During this period, the Saigon Tourist Holding Company undertook a comprehensive renovation project. The hotel reopened in 1998 as the Grand Hotel, boasting modern facilities, amenities, and dependable services.

In 2003, the Grand Hotel achieved recognition as a Four-Star Hotel by Vietnam National Administration for Tourism. This accomplishment was followed by another milestone in 2004 - the hotel's Environmental Management System received ISO 14001 certification, demonstrating its commitment to sustainable practices. Additionally, the hotel was awarded a third Labor Medal in the same year.

The year 2010 marked another significant achievement for the Grand Hotel Saigon. It was selected as a member of The Most Famous Hotels in the World, a prestigious recognition of its exceptional service and historical significance.

Today, the Grand Hotel Saigon stands as a testament to Ho Chi Minh City's rich heritage. It offers guests a chance to experience the charm of French colonial architecture alongside modern comforts and impeccable service. Whether you're a business traveler seeking a convenient location or a leisure guest exploring the city's vibrant culture, the Grand Hotel Saigon provides a perfect haven.
