His frantic request to the valet, "How quickly can you get a suit sponged and pressed?" became an unforgettable line, forever etching the Ambassador East into the minds of moviegoers.
Beyond its brush with Hollywood fame, the Ambassador East was renowned for its in-house restaurant, The Pump Room. Opened in 1938 by hotelier Ernie Byfield, The Pump Room quickly established itself as a Chicago institution.
